Hello,
this is just another update to show the current version of the AGD engine being converted for the Dragon with the video chip V9958
as in the module Wordpak2+
The test game is Foggy's Quest as I used it for my prior conversion of the AGD engine for the CoCo-Dragon in B/W video (MC6847)

Hello,
the AGD engine conversion for the V9958 video chip using the HD6309 PCU is just finished
For anyone that would like to have a peek at the result, I made a video, in fact a whole walkthrough
despite my low gamer skills :-(
This is the link to the youtube video ...

That is just awesome!

Both on the technical side and on the walkthrough.

Thanks a lot for the great work!

Thanks for your kind words, Robert
In fact this has been a very exciting way to learn about that nice and unknown to me video chip.
But the AGD engine is not yet fully converted, there are three minor areas that are not used in Foggy's Quest
that are still waiting for me to be converted. Not in a hurry of course ;-)
And this time I would like to add a music/effects section converting the MSX2+ code used for that purpose.
Presumably we will be able to buy a new module containing the V9958 and the YM2149, the sound chip
used in the MSX2+ computers, which is the same that Ed Snider put in his CoCo-PSG, so I could test my
code using that module too (by now). Up with MultiPack modules!
cheers

Hi John
Great job, congrats!
Can't wait to test one of these modules using both video and sound!

Hello,
time to talk about the latest news about the AGD engine conversion for the CoCo/Dragon with V9958 and YM2149 chips
This is just another (bad played) video to show the new part of the AGD engine that I have just converted.
It is the part that deals with the effects/sounds instead of the 'old' beep sounds. Taken from the MSX port
and tested on my Dragon 64 with Wrodpak2+ and the CoCo-PSG (with the YM-2149)

Hello,
this is just to let you know the current status of the conversion of the AGD engine
for the Dragon-6309 using V9958 video chip and YM2149 sound chip (Wordpak2+ and CoCo-PSG modules)
Right now it is able to produce music by reading .pt3 files and creates sound effects too.
I am still using for test purposes the game DiamondGeezer
You will find here a link to a youtube video showing these features (about a minute long)
have a nice week-end

For maybe there are users that are aware of John Whitworth's new module Dragon-MSX2+,
I have uploaded to OneDrive ten WAV files with the songs of one or more games, recorded
while playing them on that module with a replayer for VGM files I have programmed.
https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ak2CQz7uES-0hzuv3Ghd1buE9KcC?

cheers!

Ps This replayer requires a machine with 32K and an HD6309 CPU because it enters native mode
and uses double speed when possible. Dragon's clock is 0.89MHz so not easy to do the same that
MSX2 programmers can do with their 5-7 MHz machines!
