news feed

Post by sorchard »

I've just discovered this pretty much by accident so I don't know if it's common knowledge and I'm the last to find out but the link below works as a news feed for Thunderbird and presumably other feed readers:

Code: Select all

Hello Pere,

If you don't already have one, you first need to add a 'Feeds' account to your list of accounts. Then right-click on the account and select 'Subscribe...'. This should bring up a dialog where you can add a news feed.

Paste the link into the box 'Feed URL' then click 'Add'

I can send you some screen shots if that would help.

That looks good to me Pere.

I notice you have two 'Proves' accounts. It should be possible to put all your feeds into one account if that is your preference.

I didn't realize that there was an RSS feed for here, either (most people don't know that my Coco games site has one as well).

I tried to subscribe but it looks like the xml could use some tlc to extend compatibility.

There's a feed validation service where you can paste a link to check for possible issues:

Code: Select all

That's odd... I haven't changed how any of that works in literally decades (and it works fine in my OSX Vienna newsreader). Remind me after the show tomorrow to try your validator - I am just heading off to bed. :-)

It also works in feedly. I guess it's a case of Thunderbird being more fussy :)
