Striped paint!
I was looking through my old Dragon notes and jottings and turned up this old dodge which may be news to some readers. By poking values into address 178 (&H B2) when in PMODE 3 OR PMODE 1 you have striped paint. 10 PMODE 3,1:SCREEN1,1:PCLS 20 C=C+1:POKE 178,C 30 LINE(0,0)-(100,100),PSET,BF 40 IF C <...

Re: Speedup poke - why do some Dragons fail
Thank's for that - and the link. I'll try some chip substitutions now then.

Speedup poke - why do some Dragons fail
Since you have re-awakened my interest in Dragons I have always wondered why some Dragons can't run at the faster speed. For instance I have two Dragon64s - one with a version 2A board which will run at the higher speed whereas another with a version3 board will not. Curiously when I say one won't r...

Re: Dragon 64 Serial vs. Tandy Deluxe RS232 Pak
I haven't seen the spec for the Tandy RS232pac Ken, but one possible snag is that the Dragon64 port isn't fully RS232 compatible. It only has DTR and CTS available at the DIN socket for flow control whereas the Tandy may use the RTS line as well. I'm not sure what you are planning, but back in the 1...

Re: DragonPlus - Compusense
As I mentioned in another post, I have one of these. KenH asked whether I have schematics for it. No such luck - but for those who haven't seen one I will attach some pics and a sketch of the board layout. Sorry I can't/don't want to remove the board and photo the top and botton track layout, but as...

Hardware Inverse Video Mod
I've done this to all my Dragons in the past. The usual static precautions apply, but it isn't too difficult ... You will need: 1. 74LS02 Quad NOR gate 2. Single pole Double throw miniature toggle switch 3. 1/2 metre of fine insulated wire And here's how's... a) Bend up all the pins of the LS02 exce...

Re: State of the art of Dragon software preservation
OK, Thanks for the welcome, I'll have to exhume the old Dragons and take out the board for inspection. In the meantime a little about me... I started computing back in 1977 or 78 as a Maths teacher in a 6th Form college. We had a teletype with a link to the Salford University ICL mainframe and progr...

Re: State of the art of Dragon software preservation
I just came upon this site by chance and it revived my interest in the old Dragon. I see you have a software utility in the archive that a friend and I wrote, and I'd like to reasure you that I'm quite happy for you to use and distribute it. Your software list doesn't show any scans for the manual t...
