Re: Dragon keyboard conversion to USB HID

I forgot to mention, I ordered the keyboard connector PCBs from PCBway on the 10th and now they're here.
Tomorrow I will connect my Dragon keyboard to my PC and program The Matrix. I will be going to the pharmacy for the red pills first though.

Dragon keyboard conversion to USB HID (XRoar)

Project Summary To use a REAL Dragon 32 keyboard on XRoar I've probably damaged my broken Dragon 32 too much which leaves me with a nice yellowed case and an idea. Can I fit a Raspberry PI running XRoar in the case? Yes I can, there is plenty of room. Next question, can I attach the Dragon keyboard...

Re: Dragon 64 serial port

When I was interfacing things using RS232, not Dragon 64 specifically, the +12 and -12 voltages could be used as signals when devices on 25 pin connectors needed particular pins to be high or low. I don't think I came across anything that was actually powered from the serial port. I expect the MAX23...

Re: Dragon 32 with DRAM removed, video output?

I needed the stronger fuses so the dodgy components would fry. Mainly tants. I will set it back to the correct fuses once I have removed all the shorting components. I don't leave it unattended in this state. So I need JP2 to get an output? I will give that a go. I have sort of moved on because I bo...

Re: Dragon 64 motherboard replacement

Good work Sixxie, I have a broken Dragon 32. It might make sense to rebuild this as a Dragon 64 because I've damaged the original PCB. I could put sockets in for all the chips which would allow me to try the original chips. Your PCB design might be a good basis for people wanting to extend the Drago...

Re: Dragon 32 with DRAM removed, video output?

Yeah, I replaced all the fuses with 3 amp. If something is blowing fuses then that part is already broken and will need to be replaced. I have removed the last tant on the -5v line but that line still shorts the PSU.
I'm suspecting the op-amp.

Re: Dragon 32 with DRAM removed, video output?

I found another tant cap, it's on the -5v line which is only delivering -3.8v. I will remove it and try again. The video circuit uses -5v.

Re: Dragon 32 with DRAM removed, video output?

I am on composite cable, yellow phono with the TV on the correct AV input. I don't even get a flicker when I turn the Dragon on. Obviously I'm not expecting characters but I would expect a sync. So the VDG should at least be scanning the empty RAM space and outputting blank? Maybe I need an oscillos...

Dragon 32 with DRAM removed, video output?

My Dragon had a shorted tant capacitor on the 12v line preventing it from booting. It was blowing the 12v F1 fuse on the Dragon Plus PSU. I've sorted that problem by removing the cap and all the DRAM and the RAM buffer chip. Yeah, I'd chopped the RAM chips out before discovering it was the capacitor...
