Re: ZX Spectrum Next (Kickstarter)
Since worldofdragon doesn't have an off-topic forum, but the Oric was mentioned above, I'll just put this link in here -- which looks like a pretty cool Oric game new for 2017 and based on the cult TV show Blakes 7! http://www.defence-force.org/index.php?page=games&game=blakes7 The same site also ha...

Re: List of Games Missing from Archive?
Repton itself wasn't released but there are some similar games:Commodore wrote:Just wondering if the Dragon/CoCo has a version of Repton. I reckon it would be a brilliant game for the Dragon, even though I expect it would have to be only 2 colours.

Re: XRoar Cassette Rewrite.
Just wondering if there is a way to get the same quality output as can be got from the dos Dragon Convert DC program.? I've tried a few changes to the Xroar command line at the start but even at 16bit doesn't sound much better. Hopefully it's just something I'm doing wrong. The files all work of co...

Re: Protection systems
Just the motor running on and the start of the binary part being missed, if the gap is insufficient, I presume? That wouldn't present much of a challenge to someone attempting to copy it. The " " file in the archive appears to be a rip that I made long ago, so would've been tested and verified worki...

Re: Hello all - ex Dragon owner
Microdeal seemed to regularly evolve its autorun formats, going through numerous distinct eras (starting with off-the-shelf usage of Datacom's Autorun utility à la Donkey King and ending with their own fairly sensible & stable multipart format). The gapped non-dongal titles were perhaps just unlucky...

Re: Hello all - ex Dragon owner
Yep, the gapped format that Microdeal used for awhile was mostly a waste of time; it didn't offer enough in the way of real advantage to justify the increased wait. I think (IIRC) it allowed for rewinding to retry failed blocks, but since it didn't prompt the user to do so, nobody would be any the w...

Re: Using 'clear' from within machine code ...
Unfortunately it isn't strictly safe to do what you wish as there's no getting away from the fact that loading before CLEAR might overwrite the stack and crash the system. You can make assumptions that'll work fine on a freshly powered up machine and/or decide not to care about memory that may or ma...
