Re: Text Adventure Creator Program - was there one?

… From "Devil's Island": 440 IF OL(J)<>CP THEN 460 :ELSE 450 450 PRINT OJ$(J) 460 NEXT J … Wow! That really feels like programming from a true master! Now you see my knowledge of basic is truly terrible, but I'm going to have a stab at working out what this could do: 440 if the variable O...

Chess Wars - Battle of the 8 Bit Micros

Moving on from this thread: https://archive.worldofdragon.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4953 I thought it would be good to have its own thread, a battle to discover king of the 8 Bit micros as far as Chess goes. Previously, the VIC 20 beat a Saitek Mephisto electronic Chess Game. The VIC 20, with S...

Re: Text Adventure Creator Program - was there one?

Thanks robcfg. I had a quick look at the listing for the first adventure, Devil's Island. I was quite surprised at what a relatively short listing that was.
I really only glanced at it, but some of it did make sense.
Maybe, with a bit more study, and maybe some help, I could work it out a bit.

Re: Text Adventure Creator Program - was there one?

Thanks robcfg. I am definitely at the level where I need a program to help me to write a text adventure, and even then I have problems! The Dragon seems to have quite a decent amount of text adventures, which is why I thought maybe it may have something like Graphic Adventure Creator. Choosing out o...

Re: Chess on the Dragon

Nothing like resurrecting a 5 year old thread! I remembered I never got to the bottom of this! As I recall, it ended with the Dragon 32 with Cyrus beating the VIC 20 with Sargon II. The matter is unsettled though as I never tried the VIC 20 with BOSS vs Cyrus on the Dragon 32. I need to check back o...

Re: Text Adventure Creator Program - was there one?

I have seen in the archive there are various "Adventures" A, B, C etc. Were they written in basic I wonder? For a (sadly not yet comprehensive) list of Dragon programs written in BASIC see https://solutionarchive.com/list/platform%2C9/system%2C1/ - though ignore Adventureland as the original TRS-80...

Hi robcfg, many thanks for the offer, but don't worry on my account. The results would be way beyond my ability!

Re: MaxDUINO Digital Cassette replacement

Mystery solved! After a bit of toing and froing between me and the vendor, we finally sorted this out. It turns out the Dragon wasn't getting the correct volume. I had to open the case up and find a volume pot inside first. This was already set to maximum, it turned out, and tweaking that did not he...

Re: Text Adventure Creator Program - was there one?

OK, thanks Snarkhunter, I didn't realise. I think you can look at the code for GAC on the Beeb, so I thought this may be the same. Maybe I'll have to think about BASIC one day then. I have seen in the archive there are various "Adventures" A, B, C etc. Were they written in basic I wonder? If so, how...

Re: Text Adventure Creator Program - was there one?

Thanks Alastair. I thought there must be one. Yes, a manual would definitely be a good thing to have.
The only other way of doing it would be to break into Colossal Cave Adventure and get a glimpse of the listing, that woud involve more knowledge than I have though.
