Re: DRAM data retention time

Oh, ok! I was mostly just mucking about, seeing what sort of thing worked if I wanted to potentially make a whole replacement motherboard. That's a long way off though, and PCB places tend to have a minimum order, so if the 512K revision works, I'll be sure to let you know.

Re: DRAM data retention time

I keep wondering about using SRAM for a memory upgrade after all 512K RAMs can be had pretty cheap nowadays, and you don't have the problem with refresh. However you would have to demux the Z0..Z7 lines from the SAM, and cope with the fact that the Dragon & CoCo designs rely on the fact that genera...

Re: DragonDOS-compatible OS with workspace in high memory?

It would seem that yeah... that's not too hard http://www.6809.org.uk/tmp/dplus/ Not perfect - you have to DRIVE 1 after switching so it's obviously not initialised quite right. And maybe it would be better done by knowing about various DOSses and copying & patching whichever one you have in ROM...

Yeah fair enough. With the Trojan one, you could just peer down the end and see an LDR towards the back (well this was a long time ago, I might have invented a whole false memory about it).

Re: Datapen

Curious. Still connects to the joystick port, but if it doesn't work with LCD, it must surely be a better design than the Trojan one (seemed to just detect light levels as analogue - horrible slow screen fills to determine X,Y). Photodiode across the fire button and really tight timing in the read r...

Re: Diagnosing a faulty CoCo2

Does CC:10 prevent the machine from booting correctly? Because I've managed to load software on the CoCo2, so my guess is that it initialises properly. Oh it just affects Wildcatting which does some weird tests for some reason. Don’t think anything else cares, was just a good example of DRAMs havin...

Re: Diagnosing a faulty CoCo2

I've not seen that pattern specifically, but different chips come up with different patterns.

XRoar tape reading updates

Just in http://www.6809.org.uk/tmp/xroar/ for now... Trying to do rewrites of some samples of newly-acquired tapes (thanks, johnha), I noticed something on one of them: a really faint echo after each block as though the program had been recorded onto the tape twice (so, Galagon - wow, that is a slow...

Re: Emulator ability to print...

Not directly, but you can pipe printer output through a command to achieve this: http://www.6809.org.uk/xroar/doc/xroar.shtml#Printing
