Re: OS-9 Level 2 for (updated) Dragons
By the way, while tracing till this point, I found an apparently Easter egg. It is an encoded string just using the eor function. The text that appears seem to be the name of three important people inside Microware: - The president and the OS9 programmers (one for sure ...) See image #image EasterE...

Re: OS-9 Level 2 for (updated) Dragons
Sorry I have been away for a couple of weeks and couldn't respond during that time. The SAM/VDG can only allocate graphics on 512 byte ($200) boundaries, but OS9 by default allocates 256 byte pages. So doing a F$SRqMem for $1800 bytes can start on a non-512 byte boundary. Allocating an extra 256 byt...

Re: OS-9 Level 2 for (updated) Dragons
As mentioned, there is commented source for a variety of the Boot Modules (including Dragon 64) included in NitrOS9 EOU. One thing that may really help you is download Kevin Darling's book "Inside OS-9 Level II" from the Color Computer archive - it actually describes how the boot process works and e...

Re: OS-9 Level 2 for (updated) Dragons
Boot modules vary by drives hooked up (hard drive, floppy, etc.) so you need to find the one for the floppy controller that the Dragon normally uses. I would think the NitrOS9 GitHub should have those somewheres (for Level 1, anyways, although I don't think there is much difference between a Level 1...

Re: OS-9 Level 2 for (updated) Dragons
I don't have the code in front of me, but in NitrOS9 Level 2, the 2 MB RAM detection basically does a map in of pages by powers of 2 (so it works with the older Quarter Meg boards that Burke & Burke did, as well as 1 and 2 MB RAM options), and sees if the value written changes when mapping them back...

Re: Invader's Revenge reverse-engineering
I haven't had time to go through much of your source yet, but I did want to mention a bug - when you are selecting your speed, it allows the "R" key to be selected, rather than a number. This causes the game to run very slow, but still play. It really drags out the sound effects, so you can hear eac...

Re: MPAGD converted games - PACK #68
Pere - does that mean that the MPAGD games run faster, since it converts it to assembler vs. an intermediate type language?

Re: CPC Wiki forum discussion - best 8 bit computer
Link to the start of the discussion: https://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/general-discussion/the-best-8-bit-home-computer/msg139450/#msg139450 I think there are two reasons that Coco 3's seems scarce; 1) it was only sold in 3 countries, where as the 1/2 were sold in several dozen. 2) Since they are quite an...

CPC Wiki forum discussion - best 8 bit computer
I see some messages from a 'robcfg' on there... is that the same 'robcfg' here in the World of Dragon forums? If so, some talk about the Coco 3, etc. I might be able to help with some details that you can pass along: I would mention OS9 level 2 (now NitrOS9) for pre-emptive multitasking with a GUI m...

Re: A.K. Dewdney in "Dragon User"
There is an index for Rainbow, but I don't think the other North American Coco magazines got one.
