AGD converted games: Christmas pack

Post by pser1 »

Hello, this is the third release of AGD games for the 6809
This time it is a pack of four Christmas games, they are
- Christmas Gift Hunt by Stephen Nichol (C)2015
- Grumpy Santa by Paul Jenkinson (C)2017
- Monty's Last Strike by Dazman (C)2014
- Zombo's Christmas Capers by Malcolm Kirk (C)2016

To start each game you will do
- For CoCo simply RUN"SETAGD"
- For Dragon/Tano you should do
- RUN"SETAGD" if your DOS is *not* bigger than 8K
- RUN"SET8K" if it is greater (using CoCo-SDC with my DP50Extended)

When the game intro screen is shown, you will need to press a key to start the game after choosing the desired control mode.

Merry Christmas!
Kees van Oss and Pere Serrat

EDIT: Due to some INTRO image changes, I have deleted the files here. You can download them in a message below that one

Good stuff. I just wonder if some of the title screens would look better if the colours were inverted, as the following quick conversions may illustrate...

You are right, this might be my fault ... speed and quality do not use to work well together ;-)
I think this is part of what robcfg made to AEON1-2-3-4 images
Will try to change them and make a v1.1
thanks a lot
pere

Pd Could be done for the Intro screen, but not so easily for the game screens because they are made of lots of tiles ...
and that would imply extra work, recompile, etc Maybe for a revision v2.0 ;-)

Pere, I think the game screens are ok.

It’s only the still images that are wrong, as with Aeon.

If you like to, send them to me and I’ll do my magic on them.

Cheers,
Rob

hello,
it seems that something is wrong in my production chain ... 2 out of 4 of these games got the intro screen inverted.
It seems something related to the program ZX-Paintbrush that 'sometimes' saving the image results in an inverted copy in the
saved file. I have inverted them again and now they are like the ones uploaded by Alastair
So let's go for v1.1 of these two games
cheers
pere

EDIT: Due to some INTRO images changes, I update here the four disks set for both machines
EDIT2: Henry Rietveld (maltedmedia) detected that the contents of one of the CoCo disks is wrong, so I have deleted the zips here
and uploaded the whole four games collection again.
Sorry for any inconvenience it could cause to you :-(

Sorry, Roberto Carlos
I had not seen your message and worked immediately with ZX-Paintbrush.
Much to my surprise these two screens opened in inverted colours despite when used on the disks they show black on white background.
I have re-inverted them on screen and saved again. Next I have tested them and they look as Alastair images, so this is another point
I need to re-verify before releasing games ...
cheers

Hello,
just verified that the image one sees on the ZX-Paintbrush (once converted to B/W), are saved to file in the inverted colour scheme.
So when I like an image with black background and save it, the result is seen on the Dragon as white background ...
Good to know it is *always* that way not just randomly
cheers

Kees has been working on it and right now it is by far more playable and enjoyable,
