Ic 15

Post by SimonGG »

Hi all
I've just recently got a d32 off eBay,had one as a kid and wanted to get my hands on one again. Unfortunately I took a gamble an the one I got isnt working. What I've noticed straightaway is that IC15 is missing! Theres just a socket ,no chip. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction... So far from googling I've found out its the mc6883 Sam chip, can I get one from anywhere? I must point out I'm no electronics guru, just someone that likes to tinker.
Many thanks for any help I received, really wanna try an get this up and running again

MC6883 is the Dragon SAM chip, also known as 74LS783.
You can find replacements on eBay, search for 74LS783
For example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1PCS-SN74LS783N ... 566bb4a2f3

Hi Simon, welcome to the forum! I wouldn't be surprised if a few other parts are broken too since this one probably got "sacrificed". But we're here to help - and most spare parts are easy to get. Good luck with getting it back in order, we would love to see another Dragon rise from its beauty sleep!

Hi All, good news bought a new IC off eBay and fitted it this morning. Dragons working :D . Only problem I've found so far is keys 1-8 have to be pushed really hard to work so going to look into cleaning the keyboard switches .
thanks again for everyone's help
