Hello,
does anybody know an easy way to avoid the artifacts when working in PMODE2-4 with that machine?
I won't matter to hack the board and add a switch.

Any advice will be very appreciate

cheers

Have you tried using the Dragon's composite output?

Yes,
this output presents the artifacted colours too in the Tano Dragon

You probably won't get rid of them completely without modifying the display device.

The artifacted colours are just a facet of NTSC. The US machines do tend to have circuitry to force a colourburst even in the hi-res mono modes, but without that, I suspect you'd still get something. That would probably be display dependent though.

Hi,
I have tried connecting a 100nF capacitor in parallel to XL2 crystal, but that simply kills the video output signal!
I thought that this could have just prevented the color burst to be created :-(
It's a pity there is no info about the video circuit for the TANO ...

I had a look at a photo of the main board and didn't see anything useful. XL2 is the main crystal and would stop the Dragon completely if shorted with a cap, which is why the video disappears.

I wonder if a luma signal could be located and used to drive an S-video input for mono only. A schematic would be good but a quick search didn't turn one up.

Hi Stew,
that explains why the adjustable capacitor near the XL2, when moved too far away from its position, turns the Tano off
and when putting it to its old position you need to reset the machine unplugging and plugging again the mains supply.
I think that in the FB group Zippster asked for a Tano schematics too. Let's hope that someone will come up with one!
