What is the definitive version of DragonDOS ?

I recently got an original Dragon disk controller cart with DOS version 1 on it and want to put a new eeprom in it with the "best" version of DOS on there.

What is everyones opinion of the best version ?

Thanks
IMO, the best version to use would be DragonDOS 1.1 or DragonDOS 1.1dir. This version fixes the most important bugs in DragonDOS version 1.0 but still maintains 100% compatibility with all software. You could also use DragonDOS 1.1c which is the same as version 1.1 but with a paged directory display built-in. Its not as good as the paged directory display used by 1.1dir but it is only 8K in size like the original DragonDOS. Version 1.1dir is slightly larger and will require a 16K EEPROM chip.

Use DragonDOS 1.3/1.3a or Dosplus 4.9/5.0 if you want what is claimed to be a bug free version that is not guaranteed to work with all software.

DragonDOS 1.1c is my personal favourite. I have used it for several years under XROAR emulation and real Dragon 32/64 hardware.

Thanks for the replys guys. My friend is burning me 2 eeproms, one with 1.1c and another with Dosplus 5.0. So I should have a good choice and can switch them out if needed :)

Hi John,
another advantage of Darren's CoCo-SDC ...
You have 8 banks 16k each, so you could have some DOS variants written in them
and you don't need to burn EPROMS any more, just flash the bank you choose.
Of course you would need some 'driver' to access floppies or card at will
This is what I have implemented in my extender ... it's good to be able to make
a BACKUP from a floppy to the SDC card or the other way round!

cheers
