Hello,
I have tried to work with this version of NitrOS-9 on XROAr and have not suceeded with any of the versions I have downloaded.
Most of them simply hang on the NitrOs-9 Boot or simply show a garbage screen.
I have tested them on a Dragon 64 Emulation both witn 6809 and 6309
Has anyone had better luck than me?
Any advice will be greatly wellcome. I'm affraid at trying it on a real D64 before it goes on XRoar.
Thanks a lot
Pere

Hello,
I've got to boot from files type .vdk (older versions) but the ones published in NitroOS-9 as DSK do not work in XRoar for me.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem?
Is there any way to convert DSK to VDK? I know that DSK has more info than VDK so maybe it is not that dangerous ...
Any advice would be welcome!
Pere

Hi Pere!

DSK files are raw sector dumps with no extra info at all. VDK files have a small header (chech info here.

You can add the header to get a .VDK file, but I don't think it will make a difference...

so, what?
Is there any way of trying the NitrOS-9 on our beloved Dragon?
I have stopped sending disks to my Dragon from the PC because XRoar is not able to work with them and untill now I am very confident with it ...
Any ideas?

The last one image that worked for me was this one:
Phill Harvey Smith - NitrOS99 - 6809 - Level 1 v030204 - Dragon 64 - DS40 - 51 Column.vdk
and I am not very happy with it ...
So, has anyone tried the 030209 version, and succeeded with it?
thanks a lot
Pere

Here is NitrOS9 v030209 for the Dragon 64 in VDK format (works on XRoar).

There are 2 versions attached, one boots in VGD 32 column mode and the other in 51 columns mode.

Note that the NitrOS9 51 column mode is not compatible with Dragon Data's go51 mode, therefore Dragon Data's Stylograph and Dynacalc won't work.
To use these apps its best to run Eurohard OS9 V2.0 viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4374

Thanks a lot Ken,
both work without problems. Where did you get them from?
The web page http://www.nitros9.org seems dead (not found)
In the page "The NitrOS-9 Project" there is as the last version the 030208 and only for CoCo3.
On sourceforge.net:nitros9 I found a big file containing all of the 030209 versions but in DSK format

By the way, besides the OS9 Level 1 v1.2, our friend Lafumat uploaded some time ago the very last OS9 version from Eurohard: Level 1 v2.0
I tested it in my Dragon64 and is really very nice, has go32, go40 and go51 and works on black and white screen (not green and black)

nitros9.org has some DNS problems at the moment, please use http://nitros9.sourceforge.net/ instead.

Hello tormod,
thank you very much.
This is the web where I found a great zip containing all of the different machine confguration possibles
All of them were format DSK.
I will try to append a standard VDK header, maybe this way they will be understood by XROAR.
I'll tell you if the trick worked

Hello Ken,
the nitros9 files you attached to your last message did work on XROAR, but as they have a 'strange' length, XROAR copies the very last sector in that file as many times it needs to get a file that has 1440 sectors, so reaching the 368.652 bytes (standard for DSDD).
Before loading them into XROAR they were: 255244 for the COHR version and 255.220 for the VDG one. Do this lenghts represent any special geometry?
and, Is there any web site from where they could be downloaded?
thanks once again
