Pac-Tac by Computerware

Post by zephyr »

This is a copy of Pac-Tac by Computerware.
Pac-Tac is an excellent Pac Man clone with 9 colour graphics, full sound effects, and a more complicated maze (with more power pills) than the original arcade version.

... Thank you!

And just in case you should ever feel like comparing, you'll even find a "Pac-Tac 2" game on my "ARCAD05A.vdk" file. Based on the title screen and publisher, it looks like a later version of the same game.

The two games seem to be exactly the same, right down to gameplay and sound. The only difference is the familiar green screen graphics of "Pac-Tac 2" vs the 9 colour graphics of the original Pac-Tac game.

Regards,
Steve

The Microdeal import was "Ghost Attack", and there are various versions listed on L. Curtis Boyle's coco games list.

Yes, this game made money for several publishers over the years, but the author was never credited.

Which is odd, given what an awful Pac-Man clone it is! Though in the interest of fairness, it's probably pretty decent for a 16K game.

I always quite liked Racer Ball (which I've found with a similar variety of graphical hacks on various CoCo disks).

There's a quick review of Pac-Tac on YouTube.
