Dragon articles from Electronics & Computing Monthly

Post by davidbowman »

Hope this is of some use to the archive.
I don't know how to add these to the Wiki, and don't want to try as I might break it.

Articles from "Electronics & Computing Monthly"

1) October 1982 "Dragon Review"
2) June/July 1984 "A Dragon eprom blower"
3) August 1984 "Dragon proto Board"

The articles were scanned and saved as PNG and a PDF of the scans were made, both the PNG and PDF files are included.
If the files are too big let me know what format/size you would like them and I'll re-post.

Some notes on the EPROM programmer:

I built the EPROM programmer (round about 1986) and had to be careful about typing in the programme
as was tricky to tell some of the B's from some of the 8's, but it all worked out in the end.
The programmer was 'archived' in the bottom of a box in damp shed for about 25 years and when I plugged
it into my Dragon 32, a couple of years ago, it worked !
I've included photos of the programmer I built and as you can see it's a bit of Heath Robinson affair - but it works.
The label stuck over the EPROM on the programmer says 2014 but this is a copy I made (using a shop-bought programmer)
before trying out the programmer just in case it blew up.
The archive of "A Dragon eprom blower" contains the ".rom" for the operating programme, so if anyone wants
to build it they don't have to spend hours typing in the hex code.

Thank you very much!

Every help is welcome.

I'm out of town until 4th of january. Then I'll be able to download the files and look for a proper place in the wiki.

Best regards,
Rob

For some reason I haven't been able to successfully download the EPROM blower article. Anybody else had any success with this? The two other articles download just fine.

I did a test download of the EPROM blower and it worked OK,
but just in case it's a file size problem I've split the EPROM blower upload into 2 zip files.
One file contains the ROM, JPG pictures of the EPROM programmer and the PDF of the article,
the other zip contains the hi-res PNG scans of the pages of the article.
If the PDF images are good enough then you may not need to download the huge PNG files.
I've also uploaded the ROM file itself.

1) ROM JPG & PDF here: http://tinyurl.com/hdy5zd4
2) PNG here: http://tinyurl.com/hg6gj6n
3) The ROM itself is available here: http://tinyurl.com/j48c8h3

Hope this works.

Thanks.

I got it to work now. Must have been an intermittent problem somewhere.
