My 'arcade games' disk - VDK

Post by paul »

Here is a disk I had of 'arcade games' - various assorted. Note that there were a couple of disk errors while scanning this, so some games might not work

Directory listing:

- TENNIS.BIN
- CANYON.BIN
- DUNJON.BIN
- LUNATTAK.BIN
- AERIAL.BIN
- ZEROG.BIN
- HUNCH.BIN
- OSSIE.BIN
- ATHELETIX.BIN
- CANDYMAN.BIN
- BUZZARD.BIN
- DARKSTAR.BIN
- CHALICE.BIN
- RANGER.BIN
- DOWNLOAD.BIN
- POOYAN.BIN
- WIZQUEST.BIN
- ARC.BIN
- ATC.BIN
- FIRECOPT.BIN
- JUNIOR.BIN
- DRAC.BIN
- ELECTRON.BIN
- TEATIME.BIN
- MUDPIES.BIN
- TBANDIT.BIN
- FURY.BIN
- ZAXXON.BIN
- CRESTA.BIN
- DEMNSEED.BIN
- CYCLOPS.BIN
- PEDRO.BIN
- BUBBLE.BIN

(I never cracked any games - honest!.. Actually, I still have the cassettes for most, if not all of these, I just wanted them on disk to load quicker. If any don't load, I'll have a go at scanning the cassettes if I can get hold of a cassette player)

Some of these are already in the downloads, but some don't seem to be.

That's a disc full of goodies right there...! Thanks for making that
available - been playing it for ages this evening.

Also, not sure whether DRAC.BIN works or not as it displays a large
TM sign but I can't seem to advance that screen. I presume this is
Draconian by Microdeal which is already in the archives, so not a big
problem.

There are really some awesome Dragon games on this disc:

Canyon Climber (Datasoft)
Pooyan (Datasoft)
Fire Copter (Dale Lear)
Aerial Attack (Challenge)

I never knew there was an official Datasoft version of Pooyan for the
Dragon. If you have the original tape of that, please would you scan
and upload the cover. That really would be a find!

There are two games on the disc that don't seem to work - CANDYMAN.BIN
makes a noise like a person talking and then crashes and ZEROG.BIN
refuses to start. I don't think these are available in any Dragon
archives so if you have any more information on these, that would be
great too.

If you know a way to get these working, or if you even know the
titles of these games, that would be useful!

Glad you enjoyed it

I can't find the original cassette for Pooyan, nor for anything which looks like CANDYMAN or ZEROG

Unfortunately, I can't find anything in my box of ~90 cassettes which looks like those either, but the cassettes aren't all catalogued, so there may be something when I manage to work out how to read them in XRoar.

I'll have another go at reading the disk to see if I can get them to load from that.

Are Canyon Climber, Pooyan, Aerial Attack available in WAV form anywhere? I have to admit I thought Pooyan was only on the Co-Co.

Attached below are copies of those three games in .CAS and .WAV format.

NOTE: Enter CLEAR100 before loading POOYAN.
