Thanks for the pictures!

It looks quite interesting. There is a similar cartridge for the Dragon but I'm not aware of anyone who has it, so yours may be useful for studying it.

There's stuff on the internals of the one I have here:

The PIC7040 is a microcontroller, apparently. Something I read said it was a ROM, but it's a microcontroller with built-in ROM. There's no ROM to extend BASIC. There's a dump of the microcontroller's ROM on the above link. I think someone would have to be really keen to try to reproduce this... It looks quite different to the Dragon Speech & Sound cartridges listed on this site, although it uses the same type of key ICs.
