eBay Haul Catalogue

Post by daelectron »

I snagged a whole bunch of Dragon 32/64 5.25" discs on eBay and collected them from just outside London yesterday.

Having gone through them this morning, I am attaching a plain text file cataloguing them all. I can't actually load any of them at the moment because I don't have a disk drive but they are in fantastic condition with no signs of mould, etc.

There are just under 100 discs in total and about 90% of them are currently *missing* from any archive so this is probably one of the most important finds ever as far as Dragon disk preservation is concerned... :-)

I've contacted Rob and asked him if he will assist in archiving them all and he's happy to help so we should be bringing these to the site within the next couple of months, all being well.

I was trying to get the magazines but I was outbid on these by a guy from Spain. I'm hoping he is also a member of the forum here as he will have the magazines that accompany some of the companion discs - so if he scans these then we will have both.

They've all made it safely to Rob, who has the equipment to archive their contents.

I hope to see them up here soon. I've asked him to prioritise the Tetris clone. ;-)

Really amazing that the seller wasn't actually involved in distributing the software back in the day. He had just simply bought almost every disc-based Dragon game he'd ever seen, whether he wanted to use the software or not.

I didn't send Rob the instruction manuals which are extensive. So as he uploads the disc image, I'll add the instructions and hopefully between us that'll complete the archive entry.

Tetris and the disk version of Edit+ are already dumped and uploaded ;)

We have 3 different version of Edit+ now,the cartridge version, the disk version, and the disk version with Dragon Plus support.

I have already dumped all Pulser Software disks and I'll be uploading them and creating the wiki pages the following days.

This is really an amazing haul! There are programs up to 1992! I mean, given the short time the Dragon was sold, it's a miracle.

I'll keep you updated in this thread.

Cheers!

Heh heh, the Acorn Electron (which was from the same period) kept producing programs until 2009...!
