The version of this in the software download section doesn't seem to work. I have made a .WAV file from my original tape. The instructions are as follows:

Hooked!
=======

Introduction
------------
Entertaining fishing game for 1 or 2 players. How many can you hook before the time runs out? 100% high resolution with optional joysticks.

* colourful fishing game for all ages
* catch and land as many fish as you can
* two modes of play (static or moving fish)
* three levels of difficulty
* play against another player and/or against the clock
* optional joystick operation

Playing Options
---------------
This entertaining game has a variety of playing options:-

(a) one or two players
(b) joysticks or arrow keys option
(c) choice of moving or stationary fish
(d) choice of three difficulty levels
(e) choice of time limit for length of play

The various scenes of the game are now described.

1. Scene 1
~~~~~~~~~~
Fisherman on bank, water and reeds. Two fish are positioned. Either can be fished for. Starting positions are constant for three attempts, after which start positions alter. Using joystick or arrow keys (symbols appear in the top right-hand corner as reminder) - player positions rod tip over fish's head. A yellow 'biting zone' on the fish varies according to level of difficulty.
When the rod is positioned correctly, either the Fire button on the joystick or the up or down arrow key shows a 'depth gauge' on the left of the scene. Use of joystick or up/down arrow key sets the depth.
The Fire button or 'C' makes the cast.
2. Depending on the result, various alternatives occur
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(i) If the line is cast into the bottom, the man stands up, and a D appears on the top right-hand corner. This signifies that a number has to be entered to represent the drag (strength of pull) set on the reel. If the number is too low, the D flashes for repeat. Three attempts are allowed, after which the line breaks.

If the number is correct, the line is recovered with a small loss of time. If the number is too high, the line breaks and the picture reforms to show the fisherman retackling (increased penalty through time loss).

(ii) If the line is correctly cast, a float signals a bite. An 'S' appears in the top right-hand corner to remind of the need to strike. Striking is either with the Fire button or by typing in 'S'.

3. Scene 2
~~~~~~~~~~
A successful strike leads to a change of scene, in which the man stands up and a landing net is placed in the water. The player has to guide the fish into the bottom of the net, using either the joystick or the arrow kleys. A few 'free' runs are given to allow any fish caught in the area of the net to be played into open water. After this, if the fish gets too close to the frame of the landing net, it may be lost, in which case the line breaks and the fish escapes to the reeds. Similarly, if the fish is brought too near the surface in the play sequence, it breaks the line and escapes.
Allowing the fish to escape to the weeds during the play sequence also leads to the line being 'snagged' with the need to input a 'drag' number, as in 2 above.
Placing the fish successfully in the landing net results in its being lifted from the water.
4. Scoreboard
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The screen then shows the species and weight of the fish caught, and moves on to the cumulative scoreboard. If a time limit is set at the beginning of the game, there are periodic checks in the sequence of the game. In the two-player cycle, the change of player is indicated on the scoreboard by name when the time limit has been reached, together with a summary of the first player's "catch".

So happy fishing! We hope that this game gets you Hooked!

As is usual (for me), this is a large WAV file. If someone could convert it to a small CAS file and upload it here, that would be great.
