CoCo BASIC Upgrade Patch v1.0

Attached below is a copy of Steve Woolham's CoCo BASIC Upgrade Patch v1.0. A small utility program which patches out the bugs in the Tandy CoCo Color BASIC 1.1 and Extended Color BASIC 1.0 ROMs. Also adds a very handy auto-repeating keys feature with "RKEYS" ON/OFF command which replaces the Extended Color BASIC "DLOAD" command.

This program requires a Tandy (Radio Shack) TRS-80 Color Computer which has been upgraded with 64K of RAM.
The computer must also be fitted with Color BASIC 1.1 and (optional) Extended Color BASIC 1.0 ROMs.

The program copies ROM to RAM, patches Color BASIC 1.1 to 1.2, Extended BASIC 1.0 to 1.1, and replaces the
DLOAD command with a new RKEYS ON/OFF command which turns on/off fully auto-repeating keys. The reset code
is also patched so that the computer will return to 64K mode if the reset button is pressed. If your CoCo
only has Color BASIC 1.1 fitted, it will still be patched to 1.2 spec, but without Extended BASIC you will
not gain the auto-repeating keys feature.


The program is small (~620 bytes), and as a result is very quick to load even from cassette.

I recommend using Audacity for making a real audio cassette copy from the included wave (.WAV) file.

Version 1.2 was released today.

Version 1.2 (Released on the 1st March, 2013)

* Fixed a bug which prevented the BASIC ROM being correctly patched on CoCo's which only had Color BASIC fitted
* Added support for installing the Extended Color BASIC 1.0 ROM from cassette
* Allows the use of floppy drive controllers on CoCo's with only Color BASIC 1.1 fitted
* Alternative cartridge version released
