Absolute Dragon Beginner.

Post by ZahrlAn »

Hello. Now that my Dragon works as it should, i would like to know how to use it and how to get Data to it.

Sorry for my questions but it seems quite hard for me to get over the Dragon :-)

1.) How to train ähm use your Dragon?
There are a lot of different OS, CoCo OS9 and and and.
Is there a Beginners Guide on the Net where i can get Informations for a Beginner?
I do have knowledge of Sinclair ZX Spectrum +2, an Amstrad CPC 464 and a C128. (which are standing right here at my side :) )
But to find Iformations for the Dragon is easy but understanding it is hard.
So where and how to start?

2.) How to feed your Dragon?
On the Other of my 8Bit Computers i have an SD Card reader. Where to get one for the Dragon?
I found that there is the DragonMMC, uDW and the MOOH.

Can someone explain me the difference?
I want to play Games and use original Dragon Software but OS9 would be cool too.

3.) What are your favourite Games and have-to Software?
What are the best Tools for the Dragon like a Norton Commander for DOS :) .
And what are your Favorite games?

So, a lot questions.

Thanks for every Answer!

I would start off by reading the manual and supplement, if you do not have a either you can download PDF versions from the wiki - An Introduction to BASIC Programming Using the Dragon and Dragon 64 Supplement.

Then I would move on to loading cassettes, or wave files if you do not have any physical cassettes. You can connect the cassette lead (large jack plug with either black or white wire) to the headphone or audio out socket of your (non-Dragon) computer and use a program such as Audacity to play the wave file. (Audacity is mentioned a few times in these forums so if you need any help loading wave files search for "Audacity".)
