MAME - Sound Extension Module

Post by Pernod70 »

Does anyone have a Sound Extension Module that could record some sounds from?

I have this working in MAME but would like to compare what I'm hearing with the real thing.

Hi,

The one pictured here at the archive is actually mine, so I'll try to record something and send it to you.

Thanks, if it's not quite right it will be the clock on the AY8910, so knowing exactly what that should be will help too.

The clock is taken from pin 6 of the cartridge connector, which seems to be the Dragon's main clock.

Oh! I had indeed some recordings of the Dragon playing some CPC tunes on the Sound Extension Module!

You can find them here and here.

I can dig if I have the programs to play them still around.

Tell me if you need further recordings.

Cheers,
Rob

Yep, for any recordings I'd like the programs too to compare, thanks.

Can you also confirm that all sound produced by the cart is output through the mono jack, and not the TV?

Hi,

I've attached a zipped wav file with the program for the longer melody.

You just have to CLOAD it, RUN and then EXEC 27160.

The sound is output both through the TV and the mono jack.

Cheers,
Rob

Thanks, I struggled with loading the WAV so converted it to CAS with XROAR.

It sounds great so I think I'm done with this :)

Just noticed there's also the sample program provided with the cartridge in the archive, a quick test and sounds good :)
