What do you do with your Dragon computer?

Post by Rolo »

I wonder, what do people do nowadays with their Dragons.
  • Is anybody still doing his word processing and letter typing with it?
  • Any database users?
  • Anybody solving physical or mathematical problems?
  • Anybody controlling heater, fridge, windows and home electronics?
  • Just gaming? Most important game?
  • Using it as a foot-rest?

I use it mostly for testing my tape dumps, play something from time to time, and do some programming on it like my fractals program.

@robcfg: You do it all on original hardware, not XROAR?

I use mine mostly for games but I enjoy experimenting with programs that aren't games too.

I have spent the last month sorting through a huge number of .vdk files, copying them to floppy disk via PC DOS and then loading them up on the dragon and copying stuff to my own floppy disks. I have made up about 20 or so disks with all the stuff I like, while filtering out the shovelware and things I am not interested in. I use a combination of both 3.5 and 5.25" disks.

I mostly work on XRoar, but then I've to test it on the real machine.

I've been off the scene for a few months due to workload but hope to get back into active programming soon. Since I joined the forum most development has been done using xroar with occasional testing on real hardware. A lot of what I've been doing is essentially re-learning how to write 6809 assembly code and trying out new ideas.

I work predominantly with XRoar too, testing at intervals on a real Dragon for authenticity.

Spare-time has been like `hen's teeth' lately but looking forward to re-focusing on my Dragon project.

Hello. I use my Dragon to play many games but also to understand the BASIC Dragon and compare this with other BASIC 8-bit home computers and my CoCo 2.
In addition, I write some small programs in BASIC. And I enjoy it very much.

At the moment I only use the CoCo SDC adapted to run on my Tano Dragon.

Cheers,
Marcelo.

Tinkering with NitrOS-9 and FUZIX mostly as of lately. It doesn't count before I see it running on real hardware :) And showing off the Dragon and what it can do at various retro or other events. For instance https://secure.flickr.com/photos/stiefk ... 350421661/ and viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5295#p13326 or http://lucerneminds.com/elektrochance

I am not and never was a gamer, but I love to demonstrate Flagon Bird and maybe Donkey King which was the most impressive I had in the old days.
