Simon Jonassen created a cool plasma effect on the Dragon/CoCo:

I spent a bit of time over the weekend optimising it (mostly making speed vs accuracy tradeoffs) and here's the results:

Sorry no video yet - maybe Simon will generate one
Would be interested to know how it looks on a CRT - emulation & LCD televisions don't bleed the Semigraphics 24 colours as well as an old CRT used to...

Looks nice on a 14" Sony CRT!
I've uploaded a video here:

Not a superb quality, but you can make yourself an idea of how it looks

I've attacked it a bit more, and it's now updating the screen in less then three frames, both PAL and NTSC. Think that's about as far as I can go without major quality loss!
Files updated...
And in case anyone wants the history:
Code: Select all
git clone http://www.6809.org.uk/repos/plasma

... Nice!
I did not think the Dragon could ever become an Amiga wannabe!
Next step for you to tackle, smart guys: 'Copper lists'!

Awesomissimo, guys! Looking forward to showing off this as a screensaver at the next vintage computer festival
Can a key press check be introduced without slowing it down too much?
