I really like the sound the 1bit engine produces. It is completely different to the usual kinds of music you find in Dragon games.

your right there Stew...

it does have a pretty unique sound...

the best part is that utz (guy who cooked the tune) is a real musician (does 1 bit for the spectrum).... is actually an avid dragon fan.......

so now we have a real musicain with 1 bit experience onboard.....

Seriously impressed!! :D

So does 1-bit sound work exactly like 6-bit, just with far less control over amplitude? All or nothing?

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm always looking to expand my knowledge. :)

Hey Bosco

well, the 1 bit could be likened to 6bit sound, but there are no frequency tables or samples going on at all....

it's PWM - the source is Public Domain..... you can find it earlier in this thread, if not, then in the downloads section

Hey Bosco !

the 1bit routine would *only* be good for title music..... it's far too cpu intensive for ingame....

i *DO* have a routine that could be used ingame, but you need to call it every 2nd hsync (or the same timing) in order for it to do it's job.... 2voice....

you can see/hear it here:

fullscreen sg24 plasma (6k) with 2 voice music:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1BxXdbT3cA

you can have the source upon request....

player does 4 octaves 2 voices......

Hi Simon.

Thanks for the kind offer. If you sent me some source code I'd be like a monkey with a smart watch.
