Another Dragon version???

Post by pser1 »

Hello,
I have bought lately a Dragon32 that has the four seals on.
Despite that, one of them is so loose, that I can force a bit the case and open it enough to have a peek on the contents and ...
I have clearly seen that the place that must be occupied by the SAM has ... a daugther board in its place with a great chip (the SAM of course) and another chip, a little one, who knows what it does there?
Have you ever heard of something like that?
Keeping into account that guarantee is by far finished, I could open it and take some photos if needed
best regrads

Hi Pere!

Check the pictures here.

It may be a Dragon Plus board. If not, please take some pictures as it may be some undocumented hardware.

Regards,
Rob

Hello,
Of course it is not a Dragon Pus board.
I can promise it then many years ago I had one of these Dragon-Plus boards, that unfortunately is not longer with me
I will try in the next days to open my last Dragon and take some photos so you can see the strange daughter board.
I would take a photo of the seals before, because I have never opened it!
speek soon

Pere, you can use some lighter fuel (gasolina de mechero) on the seals, to loosen them without breaking them. When they are dry, they will stick again to the surface. ;)

Something like this?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dragon-32-Com ... true&rt=nc

Not sure it should be labelled as RARE - it may be an factory fix or option - Its either a factory fault/fix to allow use of a motherboard with issues or its possible adding lowecase (like the 200-E) if thats the 6847 on the daughterboard.

finally opened the computer.
It has a power supply ISSue 4 and the motherboard is MKII Issue 6
The great chips on the motherboard are: MC6809P, SC6847P and 2x6821P
Don't know ifthis minds, the ROM chips are:
IC17 - 9364C-0032 47123 GI8310 in a socket
IC18 - 9364C-0031 47211 GI8317 soldered on the mainboard
Then on the daughterboard sit these ICs:
IC1 - SN74LS32N it's a Quad 2-Input OR Gate
IC2 - SN74LS74AN it's a Dual D-Type Flip Flop
IC3 - SN74LS783N, one of the std SAM
The daughterboard has this part number: PN48200 Issue 2
If I have misse danything or you need more info, just let me know, the case is not yet closed
I try to add some photos
