high quality Dragon 32 schematics?

Post by tormod »

Simon wrote this (in an old thread that I did not want to hijack):

be doing some hi-res scans of these shortly.
Did this happen? The ones in the archive are pretty bad, it is difficult to read any values or labels.

Hmm... I will check - I thought I had done it but maybe not.

At the moment I am particularly interested in the Siemens323.jpg schematics (video circuit on MKII issue 5). Very hard to read the one in the archive.

Are schematics for Dragon 32 Make II issue 5 (or issue 6, I don't know what their difference is) anywhere to be found? In the archive or at http://dragondata.co.uk/ there are only schematics for OKI, SA and Siemens boards, which I understand are all Make I.

And I would still love to see better scans of the other models ;)

To correct what I wrote in the previous post, the Siemens323.jpg must be for the Make I Siemens board, and not a Make II. Although the difference can be small for what I know.

Yes... but there's a catch ;-)

I drew some up about 17 years ago in Claris Works as mentioned here:

They open in LibreOffice 4.3 but are messed up. Still might be useful though.

There are differences compared to the ISS2 machines. The video circuit is a bit different and some of the gates have been swapped around.

Thanks! I will need to upgrade my LibreOffice.

Anyway, I understood from Simon (admin) that he has high-resolution scans of all boards, but hasn't published them yet.

But it would be even nicer to have clean vector-based, searchable schematics from Kicad or similar. Alfredo Catalina made nice Kicad schematics of the Dragon 64 video circuitry once. Maybe we could work together to expand on them.

I agree that some nice new schematics would be of benefit and would be happy to contribute. I've played around with KiCad before and it would be an opportunity to learn about it more seriously.

Your schematics can be very helpful although some things turn up a bit skewed in LibreOffice. Here are PDF versions.

Yes, certainly less than ideal, but thanks for converting to pdf anyway :-)

Actually they're not a bad reference for recreating the schematics in KiCad. I'll have a go at reproducing the first page to see how it comes out. I also need to hunt down the video circuit you mentioned had already been done, to avoid duplication of effort.
