Dragon 200 Roms

I just uploaded the Dragon 200 PCB scans to the Motherboard Pictures page, and noticed a couple of details.

First, the roms are mislabelled. You can see in the picture that they are labelled IC17 and IC18, but when I compared the dumps of these roms with the ones here in the archive, my IC17 was the archive's IC18 and viceversa.

Second, the IC17 dump (that is IC18 in my picture), has 2 different bytes at 0x3FF0. In the Dragon 64 rom they have values 6 and 4, but they are set to zero in the Dragon 200 rom.

Are the Dragon 200 ROMs identical to the TANO Dragon 64 ROMs?

Well, I can send them to you tonight or tomorrow.

Shall I upload them to the wiki or do you prefer them to be hosted elsewhere?

You didn't answer my question.

I would prefer it if you would attach them to your reply here; or to a post in the 'Uploads' forum, so that they are available for everyone to download.

BTW, Is the Dragon 200 a NTSC machine?

Steve

Nopes, it's a PAL one if I remember correctly.

Ok, I'll post it to the 'Uploads' forum tonight or tomorrow.

The information at Ciaran's site had led me to believe that the Dragon 200 was an NTSC machine.
Ciaran (sixxie) wrote:The Dragon is an 8-bit personal computer based upon the Motorola MC6809E microprocessor. Made in Wales by Dragon Data Ltd., two variants were sold in the UK: the Dragon 32 (basic version, 32K RAM) and the Dragon 64 (64K RAM, serial port, other very minor differences). The on-board ROM contains a version of Microsoft Extended Colour BASIC, but more advanced operating systems like OS-9 and FLEX are available.

An NTSC version of the Dragon 64 was released in the USA as the Tano Dragon, and Eurohard repackaged it in Spain as the Dragon 200.

I find it highly unlikely, as it has always been a problem to use NTSC machines on PAL TV sets in Spain.

I'll check it tonight, but I'm almost 100% sure that it is a PAL machine.

That said, maybe the motherboard is the same and there are only changes in the power conversion and video output.

Thanks. I look forward to reading the result of your check later.

Its PAL - in fact its an exact copy of the D64 with the only change being the power LED connections.
