Fixing Dragon joysticks

Hi.
I have a Dragon joystick, one of the ones with a "handle" that has a button on it and the non-centring stick at the top. After eventually figuring out that they glued it together rather than using screws I managed to get it open. The pots need a clean I think but I can't get them out. The metal tab that is bent over to hold each pot in just will not budge.
Anyone had any luck getting these things off? I think a good clean will restore them to working orer.
