If someone has a Dragon with a disk interface and wants to try something out along these lines, please get in touch with me via my website http://www.rwapsoftware.co.uk

There may be an existing solution which can be ported across :-)

Simon - what is used to create the disk images? Are they just raw disk images?

The .VDK files have a small header (can't remember the size) but the rest is the equivilent of a linux dd dump - nothing clever.

OK - there may be something which can be adapted quite easily.... I just need someone with a dragon disk interface (or one they could lend me) to test it !

Well that answers that question!

RWAP, I was thinking of posting a question about whether or not http://www.rwapadventures.com/ was anything to do with you. Anyway I was surprised to see that there was a QL version of Aquanaut 471.

Yes, it seems Microdeal released quite a few programs for the QL and Dragon - the rights to the QL software were acquired by Talent, so we can still sell them - as for the Dragon software, who knows!
