I'm not sure that being PAL (or not), would affect how the roms would run as all the NTSC->PAL conversion is done by hardware bolted onto the 6847 video chip (as discussed in another thread).
About the only changes I can think of is that NTSC / PAL machines may run at slightly different clock rates, and that the timer IRQ will be 60Hz rather than 50Hz, I seem to remeber that the notes produced by PLAY are slightly different because of this. If the roms where different you would have thought they would have corrected these.
