Size of attached images

Hello,
I have, lately, attached some images to my posts and they keep being awkward (despite not inside the text)
I have done the same to another retro-web (Retro-Wiki) and there the images look very pretty at first sight, please, see this link:

Is there any way to get the image files to be automatically reduced (on screen) so that users can have a full sight of the picture?
The very same images uploaded here or on RetroWiki have produced so different results ...
