Hello from a new member

Post by johnha »

Hi All,

Without an obvious forum/thread for new members to post to I thought I'd start here.

I'm an old Dragon user from the early days (and still have the original hardware somewhere - 2x 32s and a 64) and have a general interest in various other 8-bit platforms (Acorn & Memotech mostly) and the Atari ST.

It's good to see there's a Dragon community still going strong in this day and age.

Regards,

John.

Hi John!

Welcome to the forum!

As you can see, as of lately the forum is quite active, so you came at the right time.

Also, as you tell us that you're also into Memotech stuff, I have a nice OCR'ed version of the MTX/500-512 Service Manual than can come in handy to you. Just tell me if you'll be willing it and I'll be glad to send it to you ;)

Best regards,
Rob

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the welcome.Yes very pleasing to see so much activity today (always useful as I've recently received a Dragon which needs a bit of attention). I remember looking for web sites/forums some time ago but the ones I found seemed rather quiet. I found my way here from the article on the wiki about upgrading a 32 to 64K.

*Apologies in advance for going bit off topic:*
Thanks for the offer, I have several Memotech resources, mostly from here: http://www.primrosebank.net/computers/mtx/mtx512.htm. They're very stylish machines but I haven't really had chance to use them much. There's also a (quiet) forum here: http://www.mtxworld.dk/memorum/ which would welcome new members.

Hehe, the Service Manual in the 1st link, is actually the one that I did!

I'm quite happy that it is available to the people who may need it. It was quite an effort, but worth every single second.

If you check it (link here), you'll see my usual "This manual was brought to you by Robcfg" signature at the end of the document.

Nice links, btw. Thanks!

Thanks for your previous efforts Rob.

I hadn't realised it was OCR'd, excellent job, it has been a great help understanding my machines.
