Home Computer Museum Helmond Dragon 64 archived disks

Results of a day and a bit of archiving of the most interesting of the large number of Dragon 64 floppy disks in the Museum's collection.

Thanks to Bart van den Akker for the opportunity to capture these! A visit to the Museum is very much recommended if you get the chance.

Re: OS9 User Group Disks

Nice! Will have some fun looking through those.

Though VDK, argh... The toolshed package os9 utility which allows exploring, extracting files, changing RBF disk images from windows or linux only likes headerless! So headerless .DSK, or .IMG or .OS9 is much more convenient!

Re: Wessex Wyvern expansion box?

More interesting is that EliteCalc works on the Dragon! That's a CoCo cartridge I thought?

Actually no - scratch that. It seems that Microcare 'Elite Calc' did have a Cartridge version.

Dragon disk drive RPM checker

Here's a Dragon-ised version of Robert Gault's disk drive RPM checker that I posted on FB some time ago. Use is obvious... load using a working drive, Gotek or drivewire, and then run with the drive for testing attached and a disk inserted. Note... Dragons 32s have two different possible main crysta...

Re: Dragon 64 motherboard replacement

I'd be suspicious of the 3.3v signal level output-ness of the CoCoSDC. The CoCoSDC design doesn't have a dedicated voltage regulator to bring supply down to 3.3V from the Dragon's 5V. It uses a regulator on the SD card reader module. Try measuring the 5V line on the CoCoSDC and the supposed 3.3V out...

Re: Dragon 64 motherboard replacement

Yeah, if you are getting strange CoCoSDC behaviour, I'd always look as a first option at obtaining and fitting a pullup board.

Re: DRAM data retention time

Aha. Via Dragon Update and The Rainbow Feb '86... there is some OS9 driver info available! Dale L. Puckett's KISSable OS9 column published an original banker board OS9 ramdisk drive and source code by William Good. The driver uses a helper program which modifies the driver module loading to ensure i...
