Re: Sick Dragon 32

I have tried the power board and PSU from the fully working Issue 2 in the Issue 6 and that had no effect. I have replaced the Electrolytic Caps on the Issue 6. I was going to replace the Caps on the Power Board as well but it seems that wasn't needed ( still might do it though ) The PSU's check out...

Re: Sick Dragon 32

I think i might be getting somewhere now... I have just bought another D32 ( this one is permatanned but came with Ghost Attack and some tapes ) - This is an Issue 2 Board with RV1 and RV2 ( this is the important part ) If i adjust RV1 on this Issue 2 Dragon too far i can get the same output as the ...

Re: Sick Dragon 32

Well that was disappointing, i fitted a new LM1889N and the problem is still there. Does anyone have any ideas where to look next? In the meantime i am going to replace all the electrolytic capacitors on the Power and Main PCB's i may also replace the Voltage regulators as well. Does anyone have a l...

Re: Sick Dragon 32

I didn't explain that very well: I should have clarified that the pad isn't connected to anything, so it wouldn't make any difference whether the pin is soldered or not. All the pins are normally soldered in so I guess something odd happened during production or there was some experimentation in th...

Pin 20 of the vdg is an unused output and should be left unconnected.
Well that is something i have not come across before so that's filed away for the future.

Re: Sick Dragon 32

Hi Thanks for all the responses they greatly appreciated. I had the main PCB off to check underneath for any obvious bad solder joints, and to try and trace some of the lines for the Video circuit and it does look like i'll have a problem tracing this fault if the LM1889N is not the problem. I have ...

Re: Sick Dragon 32

Well, definitely it doesn't look like ntsc output. Any chance to try another LM1889N? I should have a new one in a Day or so. Until then i will just have to wait. I does seem like the LM1889N or a fault in the Chrominance feed out of the LM1889N. I saw some of the schematics which show cutting the ...

Re: Sick Dragon 32

Hi I have just taken some photos of the video output with the LM1889N fitted and without and it does clear up when it's not fitted. Fitting the SAM directly to the mainboard has no effect on the video. With LM1889N https://preview.ibb.co/cD7iz8/P7090026.jpg Without LM1889N https://preview.ibb.co/n7d...

Re: Sick Dragon 32

Hi Thanks sixxie, not to worry i am not giving up on this Dragon. I don't know what that board does except what i have read on the forum. I wasn't expecting it when i opened the case that's for sure. The main chips do seem to run quite hot in this D32 the 6809 was very hot and the VDG and SAM - more...

Hi Guys Thanks for all the input i have uploaded the pictures of the PCB today these were taken a few days ago when i was cleaning it on arrival the white corrosion on RV1 can be seen and was cleaned off and the Dragon played DunJunz quite happily all afternoon that day.
