Re: Autostart tape program?

This is most likely a case of autorun program. I seem to remember autorun was achieved by saving code to be loaded in the lower memory page (first 1024 KB of Dragon's memory), overriding the EXEC vector. I also think Dragon User once published some source code to achieve a similar result. The only o...

Re: Launching Dragon 32 games in floppy format ?!

Many machine-code programs will just not work - or not properly - under MAME. This is rather harsh and not true! The Dragon driver is considered working, so if there's an issue it needs identifying and reporting so that it can be corrected. Sorry, I did not mean to offend anyone here. This statemen...

Re: Launching Dragon 32 games in floppy format ?!

Hello, why Speed Racer works well with XRoar & not with MAME ?! ... I'd say this is because XRoar is a dedicated Dragon emulator that provides state of the art low-level emulation, whereas MAME is more general-purpose (and much older, too). Many machine-code programs will just not work - or not pr...

Re: Up Periscope

Hello,

I would tend to believe the "178OR" bit in Line 26 might account for this error.
I myself would add a blank space between the figures and the logical operator ("178 OR").

Re: Launching Dragon 32 games in floppy format ?!

Please note that some games require "detaching" the DOS after loading before executing them. This is because they use part of the memory pages that the DOS also uses. There are small utilities to achieve this (such as "Unboot" or "D-D") and you should find information about those somewhere else on t...

Re: help 64k disk

Hello, I think it is still possible to directly address the WD2797 chip after disabling DOS on a Dragon computer. I seem to remember a friend of mine creating such routines back then, so he could load pieces of code that would require the whole RAM, including the DOS memory pages. He might have done...

Re: FOGGY converted from ZX-Spectrum to 6809

A nice job, for sure! But I still prefer the PMode4 display, that is much easier to "read". There are not so many games that look great under PMode3 ("Lunar Rover Patrol" being a notable exception).

Re: Adventure/RPG game on disk

Hello, and welcome! If that game was in French, then it's likely it was either "Graal Quest" or its sequel, "Creator Quest". I intended to create an English translation (both games play in French), but never actually found enough time to do so. These games are D&D-inspired: First, you have to genera...
