Re: DriveWire
According to Darren A, the CoCo 1 bit banger is limited to 38,400 bps by the 741C opamp used for level translation. The CoCo 1 uses a 741C opamp in the Data Out circuit of the bit banger (for RS-232 level translation). That opamp has a slew rate which is too slow to handle transitions at 57600 bps. ...

Re: DriveWire
Are the links at pins 4-6 and 7-8 needed if using the cable only for the Drivewire 3/4 server? These links are not required for the Drivewire cable. For the Dragon the cable should be built according to the instructions in my tutorial here: http://archive.worldofdragon.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&...

Re: Drivewire for Dragon (beta)
After confirming that the prototype adapter works, I've built a second version, more compactly designed. The 74LS04 inverter is soldered into a small board which is stacked on top of the MAX232. Here is the photo of the adapter http://s7.postimage.org/5rro86q9n/photo.jpg And finally in a small box h...

Dragon 64 Serial vs. Tandy Deluxe RS232 Pak
Is the Dragon 64 serial port implementation the same as Tandy's Deluxe RS232 Pak ? Both are based on the 6551 ACIA. One obvious difference is that on the Dragon the ACIA board is memory mapped to addresses $FF04 - $FF07, and on the CoCo it is mapped to $FF68 - $FF6B. Are there any additional differe...

Re: Drivewire for Dragon (beta)
Here is the NitrOS9 Level 1 Dragon DriveWire Boot image, for booting OS9 directly using Drivewire without any disk controller.
This is based on the CoCo2 NitrOS9 3.2.09 boot disk, with the Dragon's vtio.dr keyboard driver.

Re: Drivewire for Dragon (beta)
Here's a photo of my prototype Dragon Drivewire connection adapter.
Not very elegant, but works very nicely.
My goal is to eventually have it fitted inside the Dragon case.
Takes only 13 seconds to fully boot NitrOS9 under Drivewire

Re: Compatible EPROMs for Dragon Game Cartridges?
On which cartridge did you find this EPROM? Is it socketed? Found some interesting info about the TMS2532 Apparantly this is a TI eprom which is not interchangeable with the intel compatible eproms. Fortunately you can still find TMS2532 in ebay. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/80532-13-what-diff-...

Re: Drivewire for Dragon (beta)
As Darren pointed out, having the server invert the incoming data bits is not enough.
That approach doesn't take the start and stop bits (or idle state) into consideration.
I've updated the post above to include a hardware inverter, based on Phill's original design.

Re: EPROM Programming Shopping List
I am now the proud owner of a Dragon 64 with HD63C09E processor and Steve Woolham's Enhanced Dragon 64 ROMs v3.0 . 8-) I can now verify that the v3.0 ROMs work perfectly under real Dragon 64 hardware, and are a joy to work with. I am now looking forward to experimenting with Steve Woolham's DragonC...
