Re: Dragon survey, what to ask for?

Thanks Alastair! 8-) The CPU and both ROMs are socketed. It would be very easy to burn a couple of EPROMs with Steve Woolham's D32 enhanced ROM and add those along with a 63B09E CPU to make that into a Super-Dragon. 8-)

Detecting CPU type?

Its very easy to detect a 6309 processor from machine code, but does anyone know of a way to detect which of the 09, A09, or B09 type CPU's is installed?

Do any of your Dragons have 68B09E (or better) processors fitted?

Re: Double Speed?

The following information was copied from the NDUG 64K upgrade document... Finally, thc SAM controls the 'refreshing' of the RAM chips., Dynamic RAM chips have a simple structure of one transistor and capacitor per bit (or cell), and the charge leaks away from the capacitor over a few tens of millis...

Re: Dragon survey, what to ask for?

I'll need to check the ROMs (which are they) The ROM chips are IC17 and IC18. I'll also see if I can borrow a digital camera so that I can upload some pictures. Thanks! 8-) By the way, it's not the only OKI Issue 2 that cannot take the double speed poke, if the owner of the Dragon 32 with ID 81 at ...

Re: Dragon survey, what to ask for?

Thanks! :) This picture now shows a Motorola MC6809E processor rather than the Thomson above. Have you got two Dragon 32's with 'Siemens' boards fitted? Edit: Looks like I was wrong about these being the same as the OKI type boards. Still issue 2, but I can see that it has some of the mods that were...

Re: Dragon survey, what to ask for?

That picture is also a really good example of the OKI RAM configuration. Al a stair, is your RAM configuration like this? Yes, though in my case the OKIs are labelled M3732L-20RS 2Y110. I thought so! :) I'm really surprised that it doesn't run at double speed though. I have four Dragons with these ...

Re: Dragon survey, what to ask for?

I think these are basically the same as the boards that were fitted with OKI chips. Any chance of a picture of the whole board?

Edit: It would be nice to have good pictures of all four boards.

Re: Power board Reg 3 cooling

I don't know for sure, but it was probably done in error. Reg 3 runs quite cool during normal operation in a Dragon.

Re: Dragon survey, what to ask for?

Fantastic! :D The 'Siemens' board, with its 8 Siemens HYB-4232 (double 16K) RAM chips. And, a picture of the Thomson EF6809E processor. 8-)

Here's the data sheet...
