Re: Sprint Basic Compiler

I used it quite a lot in one of my own person projects, which was to re-write the '50 games on one cassette' games to be something decent. Surely the best way to improve those games is to wipe the tape. Neither Sprint or Dynafast made graphics any quicker, unless your graphical routines used ...

Issue 4 of Dragon Update (see http://archive.worldofdragon.org/index. ... ue_4_(Dec)) states that Salamander were selling the game by mail order, so was it released after all?

Re: Hardware Sprite Board

Could the item have appeared in Dragon Update? You can read a few here http://archive.worldofdragon.org/index. ... gon_Update , specifically you may want to search for "Microcare" on this page http://archive.worldofdragon.org/index. ... ue_4_(Dec)

Re: Hello and BASIC Development

You might prefer to use the latest snapshot (the 2011 dated one here ) as it fixes a bug with reattaching tape files that could otherwise make testing quite frustrating. Just as I was about to post about the text in xroar-snap-20110106-windows32 appearing fainter than in previous versions, I notice...

The Halsel Retailer Electronic Book-Keeper

Whilst searching for something else in the pages of Dragon User I came across an advert in the September 1983 issue on page 34 for "the Halsel Retailer electronic book-keeper" by HALSEL Retail Systems Ltd. Which according to the advert is: Based on the Dragon 32, the Halsel Retailer electronic book-...

Re: The King (Tom Mix Software) + Instructions

I cannot think of any original arcade machine that had a keyboard, so if the game designers wanted people to enter names on a high score table they had to use whatever input mechanism was available (joysticks, buttons, trackballs, etc.). These mechanisms were usually less than ideal and if you ever ...

Re: Loading games (Tapes)

I use Audacity (version 1.2.6, see http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) for this sort of thing. I've yet to have a problem with it sending wave files to a Dragon though I haven't loaded many programs this way.

Re: The King (Tom Mix Software) + Instructions

More of a general "Why did they do that?" rather than a specific comment on this game but this line awakened something that bugged me in the '80s and has lain dormant ever since. * Fixed sluggish joystick response when entering your name for the high score table Dedicated arcade games used this meth...

Re: The Hitachi 63x09E Processor

Are there any 6309 assemblers available for the Dragon, or CoCo, that utilise these extra features?

Re: An Hello, and a message about a new Dragon game (2010).

It could be that the program also requires a cartridge to be inserted into the Dragon, or it may require the use of altered ROMs.

Either would be easy with an emulator, but may be too costly to produce physically.
