Remodelled Downloads section issues
I'm not complaining (at least not much) but I find the new structure of the downloads section much less useful than the previous archive. As an example, I was preparing some notes about speech synthesis for robcfg and wanted to refer to Computavoice (Voice32). I think that program was in the origina...

Quarter Page Graphics "panes"
Going through my old notebooks I found this snippet that I wrote in 1984 while experimenting. You may know it already. It's a graphics trick that splits a Pmode screen into 4 "panes" Each pane still has coordinates of 256 x 192. The individual panes are accessed using pokes: ------------------------...

Re: WHOOPS ! (oh not not him again)
Just a little more detail about that Speakeasy device. Please note that the first image above in the original post (labelled "reversed.jpg" )should be flipped horizontally. I only reversed it while I was figuring out the traces and was able to lay the ICs on top in order to lable the pins. Here are ...

Re: WHOOPS ! (oh not not him again)
I think it was the person who etched the board. Sorry I can't remember where it came from. It came with the enclosure box which is marked "Speakeasy". I think it was generic in that it was advertised for the BBC and other computers. The board has holes for a couple of extra Caps and resistors to boo...

Re: WHOOPS ! (oh not not him again)
Just an added thought about this project. Don't forget that our Dragons have a parallel port that can be used for 8 bit data output. I have an alternative speach module using the SP0256-AL2 that I assembled from a kit back in 1984. It is/was called the Speakeasy and plugs into the parallel port taki...

Re: I done made a video
Top marks for the board - shame about the grammar!
Miss Thomas would say "I have made a video".
And a nod to Nick for Neutroids

Re: Hardware Inverse Video Mod
As the person who posted the original, let me explain - and add some pictures perhaps The mod simply uses an LS chip wired to act as a NOT gate to invert the text video output. Any NOT gate will do - and you may find a spare one somewhere on the board. But it is very easy to do a piggyback as only 2...

Re: DragonDOS-compatible OS with workspace in high memory?
I found that the link to the DISCUP disk that I used in my previous post doesn't work.
Try this one.

Re: DragonDOS-compatible OS with workspace in high memory?
@MaestroSoftware Once upon a time, when the Dragon was new (or about 1984/5), my friend Alan Butler and I tackled this problem by patching DragonDos in RAM. We created a program DISCUP which was distributed free to members of The NorthWest TRS-80 User group and Pulser Software. It requires a 64k sys...

Re: DragonPlus Original Board 'Fault'?
I want to thank you for all your hard work deciphering and recreating the DragonPlus board. I own one of the original Compusense boards. In fact the photo in the archive of a mounted board mounted is my Dragon64. I was an early Dragon32 and Dragon64 user and wrote a number of articles and presented ...
