Re: Hi to everyone

The relay clicking is usually a promising sign Next check ... - after power on (and even if you have no screen display) press Enter a few times and then type CLOAD and press Enter. The relay should click as the computer tries to start the cassette and search for a file. You will have to press reset ...

Re: Hi to everyone

It seems that you are almost there. That looks to be an Issue 2 board with the two banks of 16k chips -one above the other. The voltages that I was suggesting that you check were all on the grey connector between the PSU board (on the right in your picture) and the main board and are DC voltages com...

Re: Hi to everyone

Hi, I'm sorry no one else has replied yet - and I'm no expert, but can I offer some hints. If anyone else wants to chip in, then please do. More often than not, in my experience, it is the video signal that needs tweaking but you don't give many clues, about the flash. Are you using the monitor outp...

Re: The Maplin I/O Board

As this created some interesting comments on the CoCoNation Podcast (10/05/2025) - Well spotted Curtis. I thought I would explain about Maplin Elctronics and provide a link to the September 1983 magazine article. in the States they had Radio Shack and Heathkit, in the UK we had Maplin Electronics wh...

The Maplin I/O Board

I was just browsing through my photos on old SD cards when I rediscovered these. I built up the Maplin I/O card and used it to control a model railway, and a radio controlled tank (way back in the 1980s) The original card addressing conficted with the disk controller, so I made the mods on the under...

Re: WHOOPS ! (oh not not him again)

Here is a quick picture, taken today, of the Speakeasy connected to my Dragon32, and the code to speak the famous line from 2001 A Space Odyssey. "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that." - Just quickly typed in this morning - see Dragon DragonListing.jpg Listing.jpg And another attempt to attac...

Re: WHOOPS ! (oh not not him again)

Having just composed a reply to Tony - confirming that the Speakeasy does indeed work on the Dragon printer port, and setting up my Dragon32 to record a WAV file, my submission failed. Ah well, perhaps another day.

Re: WHOOPS ! (oh not not him again)

Dear Confused.... T'is the pantomime season, so I must reply with ...."OH YES IT DOES" - the Speakeasy does work via the Dragon printer port, that is. Sorry I've been a bit slow to reply, but I had to dig out my Dragon, and the Speakeasy and hook them up with my monitor, type in a few lines and reco...

Remodelled Downloads section issues

I'm not complaining (at least not much) but I find the new structure of the downloads section much less useful than the previous archive. As an example, I was preparing some notes about speech synthesis for robcfg and wanted to refer to Computavoice (Voice32). I think that program was in the origina...
