AGD converted games: AEON series

Hello, this is the second AGD games for the 6809 release Aeon is a game made by Sunteam for the ZX Spectrum. It was given away free in issue #5 of the online e-zine ZX Spectrum Gamer. The game has four playable parts and came with 9 tape parts, one presentation for each game part and a final part. W...

Re: FOGGY converted from ZX-Spectrum to 6809

A nice job, for sure! But I still prefer the PMode4 display, that is much easier to "read". There are not so many games that look great under PMode3 ("Lunar Rover Patrol" being a notable exception). I forgot to say that Chuckie Egg is another good game with PMode3 and might I say The Dark Pit too. ...

Thanks to all of you for your kind words! Yes, I think PMode4 with its double horizontal definition ...

FOGGY converted from ZX-Spectrum to 6809

Hello, after the last bug corrections and feature additions to the AGD engine with the help of Kees van Oss, I think it is about time to begin releasing games that were created with the AGD program for the ZX-Spectrum. The last addition has been support for the 6309. No specialized code but in case ...

Re: Anyone interested in converting AGD to the Dragon/CoCo?

Hello, almost six months have elapsed since I converted the first AGD-engine routine to 6809 code. I began end of June, beginning of July. Now all the ZX-Spectrum code has been converted except for the routines that work for the AY-sound chip. So, time to close the project! With the help of Kees van...

Re: Joysticks and noise on the sound output

That's interesting Pere. After fine tuning my joystick routine to minimise the potential for `buzz' I found hooking the Dragon up to a TV using RF produced nice clean audio. This would have been my setup as a child which explains why I don't remember background buzz being a problem in the eighties....

Re: Joysticks and noise on the sound output

Hi Pere. I went through the same thing trying to eliminate `buzzing' when reading the joystick. As you've discovered it can only be minimised but not stopped altogether. :( Stew was a great help and managed to shed quite a bit of light on what's happening to create the buzzing including why differe...

Re: Joysticks and noise on the sound output

Pere, is there anything in this thread from 2010 that is of any use to you? Hello, thanks a lot for the link! I had the soft uploaded by Steve but in my case didn't cancel the noise. I am reading the joysticks 50-60 times per second and despite disabling audio before that read, there is a low but n...

Re: Joysticks and noise on the sound output

Hi, it doesn't matter what I do, noise keeps there! Even using this small Basic program creates an unexpected (to me) sound 100 CLS 110 AUDIOOFF 120 A=JOYSTK(0) 130 POKE&HFF20,PEEK(&HFF20)AND3 140 AUDIOON 150 PRINT@128,A;" "; 160 POKE&HFF20,PEEK(&HFF20)AND3 170 GOTO 110 Does anyone know how could so...

Re: Joysticks and noise on the sound output

sorry, I forgot to say that this program uses the LEFT joystick. Basically to avoid conflicts with keys number 1-2-3-4 It scans the four directions (axis) of the left joystick and its button. Then it scans six keys: Z, I, 1, 2, 3, 4 Anyone found pressed is shown on the screen with a coloured square....
